With many of the winter holidays behind us, many individuals likely have a ton of extra boxes laying around. Even if you do not have any large boxes, you can use boxes from cereal and other pantry items to make a smaller version of this project. You can put them to good use with this simple project idea that is sure to make any office space, bedroom, or family room brighter, especially now that many people are working from home or completing school at home!

Materials:

Cardboard Boxes

Colorful Paper

Scissors and/or Xacto Blade

Glue and/or Tape

Paint

Paintbrushes

Instructions:

Step one:

Cut off one side of the largest box you have. This will be your canvas. If you want more than one canvas, simply cut out more sides of larger boxes. They can be varied sizes and you also do not need to make them all rectangular.

Step two:

With this “canvas” you can then cut and glue paper to it as the background or cover it in paint if you do not like the color of the box.

Step three:

Cut out smaller pieces of the cardboard. You can make them any shape you like-triangles, circles, squares, and more. You can paint these pieces or cover them in paper. If you prefer, you can simply use pieces of paper and cut shapes or rip strips of paper. I suggest going with paper or thinner cardboard if you want to frame this so it is not too bulky for the frame. Glue the pieces to the cardboard. You can make this 2D or 3D; for example, you could use a piece of the box and rather than glue it on flat, glue it so it sticks out.

Step four:

Hang it up or stand it on a desk or dresser!
