“Creating portraits has been my lifelong passion, ever since I was a child. Faces fascinate me, how the curve of a smile or an eyebrow arch can express personality. One of my greatest joys is uniting loved ones in a picture across time and space. I capture all of these things by connecting with clients and exploring what they wish to have represented. The journey from photo to the final work is important, as I look to paint an image with deep meaning that resonates for years to come.
On a technical level I love to work with pastels, using some traditional techniques in my own unique contemporary style of realism.
I have studied visual perception and it’s through portraits that I combine science and art. I use my academic study of the behavior of light along with my love of luminosity to reveal the subtleties of the human face. In the faces of our loved ones we find solace and comfort and through my portraits I want to show a connection that is always present.”
