The fascinating fashion designs of Myung Eun Cha are heavily influenced by the fact that her father was an architect and she grew up surrounded by the world of architecture.  Born in Korea, Eun Cha’s dream as a child was not to be a fashion designer, but rather to become either an architect or a product developer.  Her introduction to the world of fashion was by a friend at age 18; thereafter, she applied to Parsons’ School of Design and moved to New York.  She received a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons, and later, a MA in womenswear fashion from Central St. Martins, London.    

Eun Cha derives her main inspiration from her extensive architectural exposure.  She loves to manipulate silhouettes, fabrics, and textures, and does so by utilizing layering, asymmetry, volume, and 3D design elements that combine curvilinear and geometric shapes.  Much of her aesthetic is characterized by the juxtaposition of contrasting elements, such as masculinity and femininity; organization and deconstruction; gracefulness and awkwardness; oddity and beauty; and fluidity and hardness.  She favors a disorganized and deconstructed look that is somehow still balanced with combinations of shapes and lines.  Eun Cha describes her unique design philosophy as “modernized deconstructivism” in which she “aims to dislocate the skeleton of the object to distort the basic and standard form.”

Eun Cha décrit sa philosophie de conception unique comme un "déconstructivisme modernisé“ dans lequel elle ”vise à disloquer le squelette de l'objet pour en déformer la forme de base et standard".
