Three minds prove better than one at Buerlangma. Designer Qiqi Yuan, supermodel Yuan Bochoa and Parsons graduate Crystal Wang are the three brains behind Buerlangma. Founded in 2020 and based in Beijing, the brand's name, Buerlangma translates to “unique highest mountain”.
For Spring Summer 2024, Buerlangma released Capsule 1 of the brand's collection “Golden Age”. The fifteen looks making up the collection each stand poised in front of the camera like delicate and ornate perfume bottles. Rich blues, deep reds, and glittering gold all reflect the prosperity that defined China's Golden Age in the Tang dynasty- a specific cultural, economic, and creative peak in the country's history.
From “The Golden Age '' look 14, shot in front of a regal black backdrop, the viewer's eyes are immediately drawn to a floor-length bell skirt emblazoned with gradient red patterns paired with an elegant black long-sleeve blouse. The model's head is richly decorated in a silver metallic headpiece with a faint coral detailing contouring the model's face.
Also From “The Golden Age” look 9 is a floor-length mermaid tail red skirt and black bodice. Similarly, the head is decorated with a lengthy red flower-blossom-like headpiece drooping most of the way down to the floor, giving the look its elegant yet natural feel.
Earlier this year, at London Fashion Week the brand drew quite some attention. When UPS didn't deliver the correct dress in time, Yuan took matters into his own hands. Hence sending Look 21 down the runway, a hastily stitched-together bag featuring the words “FK UPS, DRESSES DIDN’T ARRIVE”. It's the brand's creativity but rebellious nature that makes Buerlangma stand out from the crowd.
In only 3 years Buerlangma has been worn by Beyonce, featured in Harper's Bazaar China, Vogue Beauty, and Elle China, and worn on the 2023 VMAs carpet by Demi Lovato.
