This easy to make affirmation garland will provide you with constant positive reminders of your choosing. Affirmations are sentences we use to reinforce beliefs, often about ourselves or our lives. I chose to hang my finished decoration on a wall in my bathroom, but it would work great over a mirror, doorway, or other location that you see frequently!

You will need:

String, ribbon, or twine for your base

Cardboard / heavier paper

Measuring tool

Scissors

Glue

A marker

Paint and paintbrush (optional

Step 1. Measure how long you would like your garland to be based on where you will be hanging it. For reference, mine is 35” on a 40”, allowing it to drape a little. Cut your string to your desired length.

Step 2. Cut your cardboard or paper material into a triangular shape. I used emptied thin cardboard boxes and cut my first piece, then used that as a stencil for my remaining pieces. I worked around the creases  already in the boxes and made sure to have cardboard on the back so it could be glued together. Consider how many you would like attached on your garland; I chose to make seven so that I could space mine 5” apart.

Step 3. Decorate and create your affirmations! I chose to paint mine a solid blue using craft acrylic. Feel free to use any of the statements that I chose, or create your own based on what you’d like to be reminded of.

Step 4. Attach each of your pieces onto your string. I used a colored pencil to mark evenly spaced points where the centers of my triangles would be. Then I applied glue along each piece and folded the backside over with the string in between. I held each down for about a minute to make sure it stayed dry. Once they’re all attached, find a spot to hang up your garland! I used a command strip for mine.

And VOILA! The final product!
