Institut Français de la Mode knitwear student Keyin Wang utilizes texture and shape to create whimsical biomimetic designs, filled with lots of mesmerizing greens, soft pinks, and yellows.

While “Symbiosis” is most conventionally defined as the interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association- It's also the name of Keyin Wang's graduate collection. Wang’s designs are filled with dynamic colors and organic shapes, blending just the right level of realism and fantasy. The collection's curtain-raising, opening look is a blue-green mini dress, leaf-like spirals come off the dress in every direction. Each spiral is intricately placed on the model's body, winding around the model's shoulders and off the sides, still, this doesn't distract from the eccentric bright blue rubber boots worn by the model which give the look it's perfect finishing touch.

Look 2 of Wang’s “Symbiosis” collection is a brightly compelling bodysuit with knit peplum details and a quite literally “eye-catching' ' face mask. The model dons a knit mask with exaggerated fly-like eyes which make it feel as though Wang's work is staring right back at you. But something unique about Wang's work is that besides just getting inspiration from nature, Wang also uses sustainable materials and methods.

Listed as one of Vogue's picks as one of the top Prattt graduates of 2021, Wang's later designs take on a slightly more mature edge. Project “She-Moon” retains the signature intricate knit detailing of Wang’s handiwork but instead of whimsical greens, it takes the form of a floor-length dark gray knit depicting a surrealist naked woman intertwined in fringe branches, the look is continued on the back of the gown and finished with complementing arm warmers.
