Slime! By Gabrielle McLean
Slime is a great way to de-stress, kind of similar to a stress ball. Instructions are based on a post from thekitchn.com for “How to Make 3-Ingredient Slime Without Borax.” If you would like to make slime, but want to check out a different recipe, go for it! This is YOUR slime, so make it your own. Just be sure to check the ingredients to ensure they are safe for you and everyone in your household (including pets!). Use your slime when you are stressed or anxious, but make sure to seal it away in a container.
Materials:
White glue - 8 oz
Contact saline solution - 2 tablespoons
Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
Bowl for mixing
Container for storage
Optional - food coloring 1 or 2 drops
Optional - glitter ¼ cup
Instructions:
Step one: Pour the glue into a bowl. Mix the food coloring into the glue. If you choose not to include food coloring, or if you do not have any, no need to fear! Your clear slime will be just as wonderful. If you choose to include the optional items, such as glitter, you can mix it in now. I did not have 1/4 cup of glitter, so I just used what I had. Similarly, if you find you need to add more food coloring, continue to add one or two more drops until you are content. You may use glitter glue, instead.
Step two: Pour in the baking soda (1 teaspoon) and continue to mix so there are no clumps.
Step three: Pour in the contact lens solution (2 tablespoons). Be sure to slowly stir the mixture; you will see the consistency change.
Step four: Stir the mixture until you make a ball. After you make a ball you can knead it to make it more smooth. It will likely be pretty sticky at first so if you need to make your slime less slimy, you can add a little more contact lens solution-just a ½ tablespoon may do.
Step five: When you are done playing with the slime make sure you put it away in a container!
