Frame Earring Holder by Allison Mitola
This simple and affordable project reuses found materials to create a stylish tabletop display for dangling earrings. I was able to find both the frame and the fabric for my project at a thrift store for less than $2 total. This craft is easy to make your own and produce a charming result.
Relax and enjoy putting together and showing off your own earring organizer!
You will need:
A frame with a mat board
Scrap fabric
Glue
Step 1:
Start by taking apart your frame of choice, removing any glass, mat board, and backboard from the frame itself.
Step 2:
Cut a piece of fabric larger than your frame itself - this doesn’t need to be exact, just make sure there is enough fabric to fold over. Then, apply a low-drying glue to the back plane of the mat board then press the board onto the center of the fabric,
Step 3:
Push the mat board with the fabric glued on into the frame, making sure that the loose ends of the fabric face backward so the front side of the frame shows the clear surface. During this step, be sure to pull the fabric edges taught so that the fabric in the center of the frame has some tension.
Step 4:
Keep the edges of the fabric tucked in while replacing the back panel of the frame. Adjust all components so that the fabric is tight, and the front of the frame should cleanly show the solid sheet of fabric.
Step 5:
Finally, it is time to assemble your jewelry onto your display! If your earring posts are not very sharp themselves, it is best to use a needle or other sharp object to poke through the fabric without stretching it.
