DIY Scrunchies

This easy craft will allow you to customize your hair accessories and make you look completely unique.

You will need:

• Elastic band (6mm by 20cm)

• A piece of fabric (6.5cm by 51cm)

• Scissors 

• A safety pin 

• Sewing pins 

• A sewing machine / a needle and thread 

Step 1

Fold over and iron one of the ends by 12mm on the wrong side.

Step 2

With right sides together, fold the fabric lengthwise matching the raw edges. Stitch along the edge with a 6mm seam allowance. You can use a sewing machine or hand stitch. 

Step 3

Now turn your tube right side out. Attach a safety pin to one end and thread it back through the middle.

Step 5

Iron your fabric.

Step 6

Now attach the safety pin to the elastic and thread it trough the tube. Make sure you pin the first end so it doesn’t pull all the way through. Your fabric will gather on top of the elastic.

Step 7

Then feed the raw edge of the tube into the pressed edge. Overlap it by 12mm so the inside raw edge is hidden. Stitch the gap closed through the layers.

Play around with fabrics and sizes of your scrunchies. Use see-through fabric and add glitter into the tube, make a dramatic big scrunchie, experiment, have fun and add a little spice to your looks.
