“I am a transgender interdisciplinary artist living in the Fingerlakes area of New York state. I strive to make vibrant and eclectic art that encourages strong reactions both intellectual and visceral. My collection of portrait series honor social justice movements of local and global importance. I also frequently take private commissions to paint portraits in my distinctive style. I've even painted several beloved family pets.
My hometown is Auburn, New York, once a hotbed of 19th century abolitionism and women's rights movements, and famed for being the town Harriet Tubman settled in. I grew up inspired by hearing Tubman's amazing story repeatedly intertwined with the local lore and I've harbored a lifelong fascination with her tireless struggle for justice and equality. While recently living in the Seattle, Washington area I received a grant for “Trans American History” - a portrait series which honors American transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary activists. I also had the privilege of creating a mural project for the Women's Rights National Historical Park which depicts the group of organizers of the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention and Frederick Douglass. I've spent my artistic career re-visualizing what it means to challenge the status quo with a colorful, eye-catching flair.”
