“Clay is a wonderful medium for expressing the imaginative mind.
It’s very exciting to create and be able to manipulate a ball of clay into a work of art.
It’s magical to see how far the materials can be pushed.”
“When I get an idea for a sculpture in my head, I get an excited feeling in the pit of my stomach and often can’t sleep as the ideas swirl around in my mind. My ideas are varied and that shows I believe in my work. I can’t rest until I’ve executed the idea and it has come to fruition
Went I exhibit my sculptures, I would liken the feeling to being judged/accepted, these are thoughts always present; is this my insecurity I ask myself often? Do they see what I see, the humor and joy that I do when I create them?
After all, this is my own private world my heart and soul, I am showing I believe fervently we all need an escape, we need humor, we need joy in our time on this earth and if I can create this fantasy world in my small way I’m harming no one.
If people look and ask questions about where my ideas stem from the most truthful answer is I want to enjoy the life I’ve been given I want to see fun freedom where often there is none. I have to live in world of turmoil but I prefer to escape to the fantasy world with comical life-like characters I can create.
Not to be tied down to one subject, feeling free to create, sometimes very whimsical always figurative.”
