“Hello! My name is Norliza Matheson, I am 24 and have been working as a freelance artist and illustrator for the past two years. I do both hand-drawn and digital art to create bold, colourful and striking portraits. I am particularly interested in exploring and dissecting beauty ideals and representing marginalized people in art. I myself am a mixed-race woman that has struggled with identity and beauty representation in mainstream media and art. My portraits feature women and men who exude confidence, self-love and acceptance: elements I admire and hope to inspire in others. I draw a great deal of inspiration from feminist role models and queer icons, and use bold, eye-catching colour palettes to highlight and celebrate diverse beauty and sisterhood. My portrayal of beauty encompasses different body shapes, skin tones, and personalities. Each muse is as unique as they are colourful, with the only common factor being their confidence in their own skin.”
