First clicking on the Instagram profile of Daniel Bosco is like unwrapping a piece of candy. Foil, chocolate, and an almond center, comparably Bosco's work has layers to it just the same, revealing colorful and oddly nostalgic work but mostly an emphasis on surrealism.

Bosco’s “French Kiss Condom Mini” sparks curiosity and animosity. The sun-faded yellow mini is worn with a matching bag as well as with DIY soda can/hair rollers and head-to-toe gold jewelry. This look is part of a broader collection, “ I Asked God for a Baby, He Sent Me a Diamond- Boscos 2023 MFA collection at Parsons.

More discrete, the “Look 4 Glitter Vinyl Diamond Ring Dress Over 50s Satin Bullet Bra Corset”, is a gold mini dress with a quilted texture and 50s bullet bra top. The most eye-catching detail, however, is the exaggerated “diamonds” dramatically drooping from the front of the dress. The “diamonds” are a glittery purple complementing the vintage aesthetic.

Seemingly mocking the prim and proper women of the 50s with their heartier and dirtier motifs, Bosco rejects the traditional aesthetics in place of their own in their MFA collection.

An element unique to Daniel is their way of incorporating the unconventional into their work but in a warm and inviting way rather than the off-putting and terrifying. Not everyone can pull off screen printing the head and hair of Donatella Versace on a dress, but they can.

If you reach your hand into the bottom of Bosco’s Instagram candy box it's clear how much the designer has found themself in more recent work, the nostalgic colors and surrealist silhouettes fit Daniel’s design aesthetic like a glove.

If you just couldn't get enough of their work, you can find them in 10Magazine, Dazed, and Coevel Magazine. And surely the Central Saint Martins graduate will be a name to look out for.
