Charlotte Lockton's crisp modern designs still manage to induce the whimsical, all the while bringing a sleek edge to otherwise eccentric shapes. Lockton’s use of minimal colors, and lack of patterns, draw attention toward her exempt tailoring skills and ability to manipulate fabric.

Locktons collection, “MEERESKREATUREN", is a series of fabric contorting minimalist sea creatures. Of course, that observation isn't as astute if you know that “MEERESKREATUREN” almost directly translates from German to “sea creature”. Between the free-moving shapes and turquoise blue hues, the ocean is a pretty clear inspiration.

The fabric of Look 3 (orca vest and siren skirt) cuts through the white background cleanly, leaving the viewer with the very clear dorsal fin silhouette and color blocking of an Orca. The black leather vest is fastened in the front with two clasps, the bottom of the vest flares out in a peplum detail, and the collar stretches out behind the model to create the dorsal fin detail.

Look 2 ( pincer coat) is a black leather coat with four front panels-- but it's the gargantuan leather pincers attached to the coat that steal the show. Like on a lobster, the Pincers are curved inward and textured, and swoop down to the model's knees.

“STUHL '' is another collection by Lockton, inspired by the shape and construction of upholstery. But it's not nearly as boring as the initial sentence may sound. It's composed of a sort of dress/suit hybrid, the blazer is worn with a long skirt, and under that pants. But the real magic of the look is in the posing, each new pose the model strikes, the garment contorts itself into a whole new shape.

Le gilet en cuir noir se ferme sur le devant à l'aide de deux fermoirs, le bas du gilet s'évase en péplum et le col s'étire derrière le modèle pour créer le détail de la nageoire dorsale.

Look 2 ( pincer coat) est un manteau en cuir noir à quatre pans, mais ce sont les pinces gargantuesques en cuir attachées au manteau qui volent la vedette. Comme sur un homard, les pinces sont incurvées vers l'intérieur et texturées, et descendent jusqu'aux genoux du mannequin.

“STUHL '' est une autre collection de Lockton, inspirée par la forme et la construction des tissus d'ameublement. Mais elle est loin d'être aussi ennuyeuse que la première phrase peut le laisser penser. Elle se compose d'une sorte d'hybride robe/combinaison, le blazer étant porté avec une jupe longue, et sous celle-ci un pantalon. Mais la véritable magie de ce look réside dans la pose : à chaque nouvelle pose du mannequin, le vêtement se contorsionne pour prendre une toute nouvelle forme.
