Ionut Razvan's work is all about layers, and I'm not just talking about outerwear. Each of Razvan's looks can be traced back to a deeper meaning, and for his most recent collection, “nobody finds me attractive”, said deeper meaning embodies itself as the pressures of societal beauty standards.
All 12 looks of the collection boast bloody details, rips and tears, bandages, and straps. In his collection notes Razvan cites this as inspiration from the Japanese Kozuso art- focusing on the decomposition of the human body. The possible implications of reference are endless, whether it be demonstrating the length society puts on women to conform- or maybe emphasizing that we all look the same in death, regardless Razvan leaves it up to the viewer's interpretation.
In Look 2, looks 1,4,5,7,8, and 9, the model is sporting plastic surgery bandages across her face. Paired with an asymmetric light blue dress, 14 bloody gashes adorn the front of the dress. Underneath it are matching light blue puffer pants with quilted detail. Accessories include elbow-length bloody gloves, brown leather platform boots, and a matching leather bag.
“Race Against Time” is an older collection by Razvan. Very literally depicting the idea of time, specifically the future- and the unknowingness of it. Bearing surrealist details like the clock bag, and vintage plaids, paired with slightly dated silhouettes.
Razvans work has been worn on the show “Bravo, ai stil!”, and by pop star Antonia in her Benny Hana music video.
